Well i’ve never been laid off before or let go or anything of the sort. And they told me at the end of my workday so now im just sitting here feeling like shit. I haven’t even had this job long and i made a whole savings plan for this year and my boss had said literally this morning that i was going to get a raise, got my own key last week to the building. Just to get let go today. I’ve been sad all night and crying - there goes my savings plan for this year. What am i going to do? Literally this has never happened to me before ever and I just feel useless, before this job I had been looking for 2 months so it felt finally like a win. Does anyone know of places that hire quickly? I was an Account Manager. 8 years of experience, B.S. in business admin. The whole thing. Looking for something in the same field and similar pay. Want to try to salvage my savings plan for this year. Feeling really stupid I picked this company over another that wanted to hire me at the time.
Btw i tried recruitment agencies, city and county jobs, and nothing ever lands. Am I missing something? Does somebody know something I don’t? Already started mass applying on LinkedIn...again

File for unemployment immediately if you have not already. I’m sorry you got let go unexpectedly. Companies are really trying to trim down where they can. The job market is horrible.

Men's pride movements need to embrace (ewww, hugging amirite?!) an expanded version of masculinity that includes emotional strength and protection, not just muscular strength and paternalistic protection. The "hunter/chief/king" archetype of masculinity is what is causing suffering in men who don't fit that mold.

These are all conditions selectively caused by the culture of toxic masculinity. If cis men learn that it's not gay or feminine to be vulnerable and show emotions besides anger, then they won't be any more lonely or sad than anyone else. And that eating vegetables isn't gay either, so their cardiovascular systems don't get clogged with steak.

This one is honestly a massive black eye for work safety measures, since this is likely due to gender-based differences in work location (construction, manufacturing, etc). Hopefully this is also partially due to cigarette usage, which hasn't declined as quickly in men as in women, but has still rapidly declined in the past few decades. And hopefully vapes don't cause lung cancer in 30 years, because so many of the teens and 20something guys I see on the street are using vapes.

I’m a female with healthcare background. I don’t make a huge TC like a lot of you here.
I’ve been working 3 full time Js with a TC of around $100,000. That is a LOT for me and my area.
J1 was the best paying. I enjoyed it the most. I worked hardest at it. (Not saying I don’t work hard at the others, but I am most comfortable with the type of work of J1).
Finished my last note today and 20 minutes later get this message,
“Due to a reduction in staff, we have to terminate your employment with **. You have done nothing wrong, but due to a lot of financial considerations ** is reducing our staff. I just want to say what an asset you have been and it hurts losing you. You will receive a 1 week severance on top of the past 2 weeks you have worked. Thank you for everything you have done for the practice.”
I’m so happy I have 2 other J’s, but my TC has gone down to ~$60k.
I did get my savings up to 5 figures which is great.
I do have a question for some of you who are tax savvy. J1 was a 1099 position; however I was treated as an employee. I have done a little research about filing as a W2 as long as I submit SS-8 to the IRS (I also have plenty of proof I was treated like an employee vs an IC). Have any of you done this? I wasn’t going to but since they fired me, fuck it. It also changes my tax burden to owing money to getting a (very small) refund.
